| DESIGN NAME: House of Flying Daggers PRIMARY FUNCTION: Contacting and fighting with the melody. INSPIRATION: This project is inspired by the Chinese Pipa music ‘House of Flying Daggers,’ this is a major historical themes Pipa music. ‘House of Flying Daggers’ is about Chu-Han battle (202 BC). Chu army defeated by the Han army, Chu army’s leader Xiang Yu suicide in the Wu River because of dignity. When their two armies fighting a decisive battle, the sound moving heavenly, the drum, sword crossbows sounds… This Pipa music performance a intense fighting scenes. The designer inspired by the internal meaning of the song, trying to find a particular way to visualize the famouse Chinese Pipa music. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: This project is inspired from the Pipa Music ‘House of Flying Daggers,’ that is also the one of the most famous ten Chinese traditional music. The visual elements are cooperated by Black and White cubes and This project is inspired by the Chinese Pipa music ‘House of Flying Daggers,’ that is also the one of the most ten famous Chinese traditional music. The designer is trying to find a particular way to visualize the famouse Chinese Pipa music. The whole project combined stop-motion animation with graphic elements, by using space, black and white cubes, illustration, speed and other rhythm changes, to show the internal meaning of the song，through the rich camera language, to enhance the overall visual effects. From this project, the audience could touch the emotion of the relevance between two strengths rising, interweave and fighting with the melody changing. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: This project is inspired from the Pipa Music ‘House of Flying Daggers,’ that is also the one of the most famous ten Chinese traditional music. The visual elements are cooperated by Black and White cubes and expressing the same moods with the music melody. Through the geometric shape, elements, visual symbols with the music changes, reflecting the hidden in the music of latent, urgent, murderous and fighting changes. Using different modern performance language and expression techniques to enrich the charm of ancient Chinese traditional music. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The work started in August 2016 in Dalian and finished in November 2016 in Dalian. FITS BEST INTO CATEGORY: Movie, Video and Animation Design |
PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Using stop-motion animation as the expression media, added 3D MAX, AFTER EFFECT, ILLUSTRATION technology into the post-production part, resulting in a wealth visual effect, improve the quality of entire work. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: The whole work is 2 minutes and 10 seconds, pixels 1920px * 1080px,I have uploaded the work to the vimeo website. House of Flying Daggers is a Chinese lute song, but also one of China's top ten ancient music, playing for the solo, music intense, stirring, clearly demonstrated when Xiang Yu was surrounded by the army when leaving the scene.Music in the shadow of the two decisive battle, shake the world, the roof splash. Listen carefully, drums, archery, people crying sound, crying ..... Let people hear curiosity, and then fear, desolate, panic to the extreme.Using different modern performance language and expression techniques to enrich the charm of ancient Chinese traditional music.
