| DESIGN NAME: Isi PRIMARY FUNCTION: Pendant jewel INSPIRATION: I have got my ispiration while working as a jeweler: eight hours seated at my work bench or dealing with customers and in the evening, a drink with my friends before going home. In most shops, offices and others workplaces the main dress code is usually quite and your necklace too. But after work, you might go out and you wouldn't have time to get change, therefore this jewel will help you to look elegant. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The main version of the convertible pendant for woman and man is made in gold and diamonds, but it is also available in silver and precious stones. The jewel peculiarity is the capability to change shape in just one move. This transformation happens thanks to a basic mechanism that has been patented. Starting from a basic geometric shape like a sphere, it can change into a cross or other shapes, depending on the model. Partially hiden hinges allow the opening of the jewel and the trasformation into a new bigger, flashy and precious shape OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The strength of this pendant is the simplicity in whatever shape you prefer to wear it. Its values lies in precious metals (both gold and silver) that do not damaged and can be set with different precious stones, can be engraved, can be modeled. It is fun because you can play with it, it is small, it is slim, for young people who want to show off what they have got in the right situation PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: This jewel has been created in 2008 in Gior jeweler’s lab in Belluno and patented by utility model in Padova chamber of commerce with number pd 2009u000001 in January 2009 |
PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The first jewel prototype has been produced totally handmade, then has been developed at the computer and produced with the following techniques: lost wax micro casting, welding and manual set using a particural instrument the bulino that is a knife for cutting the metal and setting the stones SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Sphere diameter 1,5 cm Once opened 4 cm per 3,5 cm 3,6 ct of diamonds 18 kt gold TAGS: Pendant, diamonds, handmade, made in Italy, jewel, convertible, isi, evening jewel RESEARCH ABSTRACT: At first, the research was based on the community daily life: starting from my personal situation and extended to all women and men who work tirelessly and have limited time, there is the need to change look in few minutes and be fitted for a new situation. Secondly technical point of view: to be able to make working the opening mechanism of the pendant creating first a handmade mock up and then a prototype using personal computer CHALLENGE: The challenge is the creation of the particular shape of the pendant once opened. It starts from three dimensional geometrical shape and become abstracted. For checking the project feasibility little wax mock up has been created and then designed and prototiped. NAME: Gior gioielli unici PROFILE: GIOR is the name of Isabella Gabbin's jewelry that opened in 1997, but she is in the field since 1994, after 5 years of goldsmith school and several masters about. In the beginning it was a goldsmith laboratory and from 2012 it became a jewelry specialized in its own creations and in sale of branded jewels in gold and silver. GIOR is located in the historical Belluno center and it is situated in a 1470’s building. There are two people working at GIOR, Isabella Gabbin, who is the creator of all the jewels, and Valentina who is a collaborator in sales. They both have gems specialization and Isabella has also embending, goldsmith, design, ancient jewels history and gems cutting specialization. The GIOR's clients are mostly private customers, but the collaboration with companies, such as Italo Fontana, give prestige to the Isabella's jewelry. Isabella Gabbin won many awards and she likes to be always in competition, also to improve her job. GIOR has also few international patents about jewels, some of these presented to companies such as Bulgari, Recarlo and Morellato. Isabella Gabbin is committed in the jewel’s history, that she promotes with some conferences, and she includes the ancient art in her jewels, celebrating the made in Italy at 360 degrees |
