DESIGN NAME: Vapour Sohna Road
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Resturant and Bar
INSPIRATION: the inspiration of the project is derived from the 80's stock exchange where though being in a constant bidding war guests are also welcome to make new friends. Hence a very light air, low down non powering atmosphere.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: vapour is a chain of restaurants, on the concept of a stock exchange, the restaurant had to be an informal place where their is visual connect among all guests, a feeling of a large gathering of people needed to be generated where everybody is in a bidding war for their drinks. The site provided us with a high ceiling which enabled to develop a large voluminous space, which was deliberately made into an airy and non imposing space. A deliberate attempt is made to allow a large amount of natural light to seep in into all areas during day time and allow long view outside is achieved at night time which allows more voluminous feeling of space. light fixtures here have been used to define a smaller area of a table where the light fixtures are actually used as space highlighters.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: the space is divided in to five major areas
the entrance foyer leading to rest rooms and main restaurant area.
the main restaurant area is further segregated as
A) Bar counter seating
B) lounge seating in-front of bar
C) general island seating
D) mezzanine seating
E) our door road side seating.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: vapour is located on sohna road in gurgaon, haryana state in india the project was started in April 2016 and completed in Oct 2016

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: all natural and recyclable materials are used in this project, using the natural look and feel of material the desired effect was achieved. each material though a significant element on its own has been blended with other materisl to give an natural feel to the overall interiors.
SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: the materials used in this entire project were used broadly keeping in mind natural finish and re-usability of the material. we have used fly ash bricks in wall construction and left as it is with no surface finish all wood used is packing wood reused from packing crates. The idea was to have a low carbon footprint of the space and hence most materials used are either reusable material or material reused from scrap.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: Minimalist design was studied including study of large ball rooms and large volume spaces such as atrium's in commercial spaces and large public buildings.
CHALLENGE: The most relevant creative challenge was to keep the large volume present by a high ceiling of the interior space intact and use the same to provide a non imposing and airy feel to the entire space.
