DESIGN NAME: Mitsubishi eK Space Custom / eK Space
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Brochure
INSPIRATION: ・This brochure is created from an idea to use a totally different approach for inspirational images as the two cars have different characteristics. Used townscape in the background to pursue coolness and stylishness for one and used graphical images to create fun atmosphere for the other one.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: ・Minor changes are made to Mitsubishi’s eK Space Custom and eK Space to make their characteristics more noticeable respectively.
・eK Space Custom has a complete change with more dynamic exterior design and eK Space has a new exterior design with more approachability.
・The brochure is developed to communicate these two characteristics clearly and impressively.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: ・In Japan, automobile brochures are considered as an incentive item for targeted customers. Therefore, a brochure must convey both emotional and functional qualities to the potential buyer.
・In general, there are two ways of obtaining a brochure: either by picking it up at a dealership, or by ordering it on the Internet.
・In Japan, even after purchasing a car the delivery period can stretch to three months. The brochure allows the new owner to obsess over his or her purchase and fantasize about driving it, while waiting for the car to be delivered.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: ・The MITSUBISHI eK space custom & eK space was launched in December 2016 Japan. The brochure was released at the same time and will be used until the model gets updated.

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: ・All of vehicle body and interior images are created by 3DCG but the beauty and high-quality feeling of the car are perfectly reproduced by using background reflections and glare effectively.
・ QR codes are used effectively to show videos offering supplementary information. This idea is adapted to make the best use of this brochure with the limited number of pages available.
SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: ・Size: A4 size (210-mm x 297-mm) with 54 pages. Saddle stitch.
・This brochure uses “FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) approved paper”, which is made from thinned wood.

CHALLENGE: ・Clearly differentiate two grades with totally different characteristics. Special pagination is used for this brochure to achieve the goal. QR codes are used to show videos providing supplementary information.
・Different inspirational images are used as well. Cool and stylish images of one car are created by using a townscape in the background and fun atmosphere is created with graphical colors with the other car.
・All of vehicle body and interior images are created by 3DCG, but they have perfect quality and are nearly indistinguishable from the real ones.
