DESIGN NAME: Xerox PARC Exhibit
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Exhibit
INSPIRATION: The designers were inspired by the incredible history and fascinating current endeavors of Xerox PARC. We wanted the artifacts and stories to take center stage whether it was PARC's invention of the laser printer, the mouse, or the graphical user interface.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Xerox PARC, the legendary center for technology innovation and R&D in Silicon Valley needed a compelling way to introduce prospective new clients to its history as well as their ongoing endeavors. To achieve this balance of showcasing the past and the future, historic artifacts were placed on top of clean, contemporary platforms, while bold graphics, videos, and interactive presentations detailed the ongoing innovation taking place at PARC.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Visitors interact with the exhibit by encountering physical artifacts and videos throughout the space. Each cluster of artifacts has very brief text descriptions on the platforms and an interactive iPad platform near it in order for visitors to gain deeper levels of insights. There is also an area set aside for conversations between PARC employees and clients for conversations sparked by the exhibit.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project is a permanent in house exhibit located in Palo Alto California.
FITS BEST INTO CATEGORY: Fine Arts and Art Installation Design
