| DESIGN NAME: 298 Nikuya Kitchen PRIMARY FUNCTION: Japanese Dining Restaurant INSPIRATION: Energetic, powerful and the good old days. The design image of 298 Nikuya Kitchen TST was inspired by American Diner back in 1950s. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: 298 Nikuya Kitchen TST is Japanese BBQ restaurant which was relocated from Central to Tsim Sha Tsui, Hong Kong. The overall design of the space was inspired by American Diner, such as black and white patterned tiles, white metro tile and light bulb messages. In addition, we mixed different design elements like industrial chic partition, big mirror ball pendant lights which feel back in 1970s and so on. We create the space which is something new and a bit different from the former Japanese BBQ restaurant design. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: - PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in May and completed in September in Hong Kong and was opened in October 2015. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: - SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: The total useful floor area of this property is around 340 square meter (including area of kitchen which is around 48 square meter) and 2.8m ceiling hight under the slab. In addition, there are some beams and low ceiling places. Especially outside Japan, these design is very popular to see at its food space. Our challenge is to break away from the stereotyped image of Japanese restaurant which was located in a foreign country.
