DESIGN NAME: The Desert Sedation
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Creative Photography
INSPIRATION: The main idea came from a dramatical paradox between the tranquility of the desert and the hard way of life there. On that strange area a soulful mind is always looking for an allegory which can define the beauty and purity to make it complete. And it was just woman to make it.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: "The Desert Sedation" is a photography project to confront the toughness of a desert and purity of a woman, a woman who wears traditional clothes of a southern city of Iran, Bandar Abbas.
There are two symbols on "the Desert Sedation" Project. A third henna tattooed hand which stands for the way of a traditional life on that area and a butterfly that is stands for the meaning of life and the soul of purity.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The main Idea of the Desert Sedation Project were came from an individual vision experience. So The way of compositions and coloring in photos are not that compounded, However the it has been covered by a middle eastern mysterious atmosphere which is evolved with a classical persian face of a young photo model and some semantical element such as the butterfly and the third hand.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project has been photographed in October 2016 in Yazd, Iran.

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The Desert Sedation's works were shot with Canon 5D mar III / 24-105mm lens and Speedlite 430EX III with a golden reflector

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: Composing The two opposing concept like the beauty of a woman and the tranquility of the desert needs some icons to solve these two separated symbols and it was when the third and and the butterfly started to act. the butter fly is a well-known icon of evolution and a deep love in persian literature and hand is a holly icon in middle eastern mythology. The Hand (Khamsa), particularly the open right hand, is a sign of protection that also represents blessings, power and strength, and is seen as potent in deflecting the evil eye. combining these icon and symbols in the project has created a mysterious and conceptual atmosphere in pictures
CHALLENGE: Some traditional icons in middle east because of their ancient records become semi-holy for the people of that regions. So finding a way to respect all of their believes and costumes was a challenging subject which was too sensitive.
