DESIGN NAME: Poured Collection
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Collection of tables, plates and bowls
INSPIRATION: It's the result of more than two years of material research and experimentation with only one material. It has been a journey of finding the right balance between my control as the designer and the material's own natural behavior.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Poured Collection is a series of objects handmade in Copenhagen, Denmark.
A small amount of pigment is added to a mixture of mineral powder and water-based acrylic polymer before it’s poured into a mould where the material flows together and creates patterns that are difficult to predict. Every object in the collection is unique and is a ‘frozen moment’ of the time of creation.
All objects are minimalistic in their shape – allowing the materials’ own characteristics to shine.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The bowls and the plates are sealed with a food-safe sealant to prevent stains, but it is not recommended to use for anything oily, liquids of any kind or washing in the dishwasher.
The Table is sealed with a completely waterproof coating to prevent stains from eg. red wine and coffee.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: January 2014 as part of my graduate project at Central Saint Martins in London.
The first bowls were ready for the shops (with packaging, product leaflet, etc.) in January 2016 where they were officially launched at Maison&Objet in Paris.
The Plate was launched at my recent show at London Design Fair in September 2016

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: Over two years of hands-on research with finding the perfect material recipe. By changing components and mixing methods and mixing ratios in a systematic and analysing approach, I've come up with a material which is strength wise similar to ceramics.
Further testing and experiments have been conducted into pigments and coatings to achieve the best possible end products.
CHALLENGE: All movements you make when casting is visual in the final objects, and it's been extremely important for me to try to find the right balance between my control as the designer and the material's own natural way of behaving when casting it into the mould.
