| DESIGN NAME: Freiraum PRIMARY FUNCTION: Multifunctual Bar INSPIRATION: The main differences to other projects are, beside design decisions, the used materials and the typical invitingly alpine hotel charm, which of course inspires many people. We only used solid oak timbers, not a single other material was used to create the overall structure, which is ninety percent of the whole project. The room is also covered with ca. ninety square meters of glass, which will give an awesome view to the beautiful snow covered Austrian Alps. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The project convinces with a clear and thoughtful design, reminding of a wave form. The wave form extends over the whole oak made furniture, including baldachin, staircase and the built-in niche seats. In addition, it has two barrier free gateway possibilities, which slide into the ground or come out of the floor. Cleverly positioned lightings and the combination of wood, metal and stone as main materials lead to a pleasant ambient and contribute to the general impression significantly. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: This Bar lives ot of his material. 16.000 Cubes of oak do have a big aura, you will smell it, you can touch it, you can feel it. It's something special, something. It was not easy to get the "work of the wood" all togehther, so that the bar will never change. Will not extend ant do on. but we found a way. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in Mid of June in 2015 and will end at the 16th of Dec. 2016 at 16:16 with a big opening. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: This Sculpture is made of Oak. Only oak. 16.000 Cubes of oak. Glued together and 3d milled. In the End it is 25to heavy. All made of oak. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: L/B/H: 15m/8m/5,5m and at least in total 42m long TAGS: Bar, Freiraum, Oak, Sculpture, Puradies, Amorph, RESEARCH ABSTRACT: It was an idea of our client, to make something special. To make something never seen before in our area. And to work with natural materials. So we have choosen oak. Hard wood, resistibale, perfect to touch and to work with. So we searched a structure to combine a Bar and a Lobby with a sculpture. And also to connect two floors. The Lobby with the bibliothek. So the sculpture snakes throug the lobby up to the first floor and ends in the bibliothek CHALLENGE: The hardes to get was the weaking and the swelling of the wood. Because the structure is quite big and so a normal weaking will go up to 8 cm, so we have to lock this and make a structure to keep it in form. NAME: Puradies Hotel and Resort PROFILE: The client is a family which has a completely new hotel built in Leogang. The aim of the hotel was to combine traidion and modernity. For this purpose, a very unusual bar was designed as an eyecatcher in order to make it known both as a sign and as a design object. |
