DESIGN NAME: Mobi
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Modular Building Structure
INSPIRATION: This experimental project started with an intent to explore the positive human perception towards abstract forms. I extracted two perceptual concepts from research: Elegance, an idea based on efficiency, and Extravagance, the opposing idea constructed around the scale, and complexity. Mobi is a manifestation of these two ideas in one modular state: it expands efficiently to achieve visual complexity.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Mobi is a unique modular structure system that can expand by simple multiplication, which can be built into both functional and decorative structures. Mobi is made of Polypropylene, and due to the structural design, it can support an impressive amount of weight. Mobi can build usable furniture pieces such as tables and benches, temporary architecture structures such as fair booths and pavilions, or it can be built into sculptures.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Mobi Modular Units are used just like lego blocks. Builder can simply plug male part into female part of another module to expand the structure.
