| DESIGN NAME: Euglena RIN excellent cream PRIMARY FUNCTION: Logo, Container and Package Design INSPIRATION: We were impressed by the beautiful shapes of the Euglena, and we tried to integrate this amazing helical pattern covering its body as well as the extensions protruding from it, onto the container. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: We have been assigned to design the logo and container for the luxury cream "RIN" made by a cosmetics manufacturer whose main ingredient is extracted from Euglena. We have chosen to make the container in the traditional Japanese style of "Arita ware" to create a design that would perfectly represent this cosmetic product containing a generous amount of this precious ingredient produced in Japan. The organic curves that resemble those of living organisms and that constitute the shape of this co OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: - PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in January 2016 in Tokyo and finished in September 2016 in Tokyo, and was exhibited in traditional department store for loyal customer. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: This design is not only doing homage to the traditional handicraft of "Arita ware", but also represents the possibilities of our modern times, and the future as well, by actively utilizing the technology such as the frequent use of a 3D printer in the production process. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: outer box: 180mm×110mm×95mm porcelain: 87mm×87mm×82mm TAGS: package, euglena, cosmetic, porcelain, Arita, beauty, design RESEARCH ABSTRACT: The design comes from the appearance of euglena seen through the microscope. CHALLENGE: Due to the craftsman’s high quality skill, they could remove it from this complicated casting shape. This is not be done by a normal craftsman. NAME: Euglena PROFILE: We research, develop, produce and market microalgae with a strong focus on euglena. Euglena is a single celled organism (microalgae) that can photosynthesize using its chloroplasts and extensive research has been conducted for its effective use. Euglena, which contains most of the nutrients required for human survival, is expected to be used effectively in functional foods and cosmetics. It has the capability to photosynthesize efficiently – capture carbon dioxides efficiently into carbohydrates and produce oxygen – so that we are also researching to create biofuels and animal feed and to utilize CO2 emission from various industrial plants. We are developing a diverse range of business while challenging to solve food and environmental problems using the characteristics of euglena. |
