RESEARCH ABSTRACT: At the beginning, some research was done on methods and equipment required for 90 degrees formation of plywood. The result of this research revealed the method for creation of the cast and pressing plywood which gave us the desired result after two trials. In the meantime, the target market and customers' needs were studied using social networks, internet, performed surveys and feedbacks received at our sales points and the information in our archive. In addition, some research was done on characteristics and shape of the leaves of lotus flower in Anzali lagoon and other lagoons outside Iran. The historical and social aspects of lotus flower in ancient Iran, especially Achaemenian era, as well as its relation with other ancient civilizations, were also studied. In general, all researches were done using internet, reference books, the company's archive and the experience of Iranian pioneers in this field.
CHALLENGE: The main challenge in production of this table was to form sharp 90 degrees angles with plywood, in a stable way that neither temperature nor aging, make it change. So many casts were built and tested in order to give us the desired perfect result. The next challenge was the endurance of the table legs, which was successfully tested on the first prototype.
Internal influencing factors of the table are: the conceptual position of Lotus flower in ancient Iran meaning the philosophical view about it, the natural and physical characteristics of this flower such as its growth from the depth of unclean lagoons, and the fresh and smooth sense of looking and touching the surface of the table inspired by the leaves of Lotus.
External influencing factors of the table are: related standards such as the height and static resistance of the table, compliance with green design and the company's production capabilities such as 90-degrees plywood pressing and forming using a 5-axis CNC.
