DESIGN NAME: Cypris Ring
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Ring
INSPIRATION: The untamable personality and the unpredictable nature of the sea - with its motions, forms, and reflections - instigated us to explore it and create the newest piece of the Cypris Collection.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The first studies for the Cypris ring were developed through experimentation on bending an original Cypris bracelet to discover new shapes and curves. After refining and improving the curves, a contrast between polished and satin finishes was created in order to visually detach one side from the other. Thereby, light and reflections have two different ways to interact with the ring: there is the purest reflection of the polished surface that mirrors and distorts the surrounding environment while the satin finish acts more tenuously by capturing only the luminosity and spreading it smoothly through the piece.
The final design presents curves with different tensions and directions resulting in a dynamic relationship that takes the eye on an endless journey along its winding trail, until you come across with a bright white pearl that appears to float gently on the polished surface.

PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in August 2015 in Sao Paulo, Brasil. It took around 2 weeks from the first studies to the final piece.

CHALLENGE: Besides managing to keep the silhouette and the curves of the ring as spontaneous as we could, the biggest challenge of this project was to create an adjustment system that allows the ring to fit comfortably on any finger size by taking advantage of the metal physical properties.
