| DESIGN NAME: nona PRIMARY FUNCTION: Chair INSPIRATION: NONA in Malaysia means damsel. For years we have been seeking for the perfect chair to emblematize Malaysia but a search of history serves void as the culture of communal and comfort seating at home is nothing more than the magnificent handcrafted floor mat by the ladies of the house. Since we have no applicable traditions to fall back on, we therefore decided to go for avant-garde looking chair in honor of the creative ladies that weave those intricate and colorful mats decade ago. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The seat is organically shaped to the curves of a woman and sculptured as thin as possible for a perfect balance of lightness, artistry and comfort.The back rest is shaped thinly with lovely organic curvature and match the continuous flow of the gorgeous curvaceous seat to evoke the feminine elegance. NONA is designed to minimize any encumbrance during seating which allows Her to freely strut her stuff. The back has a small waist and slim legs of quasi-feminine detailing and yet courageous look. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: the whole chair will be made in wood sourced locally and legally harvested. The designing of the chair is done on 3 CAD softwares namely Solidworks, Rhino and 3Dmax by optimizing the strengths of each individual CAD. Production of the chair will be utilizing advance CAM software to run a 5 axis cnc machine for precision and surfacing cut.
