DESIGN NAME: Breeze Frankfurter Hof
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Dining experience
INSPIRATION: Without any direct visual link to the outside world, yet tied to the natural elements, the space takes inspiration from nature: running water, layers of glowing blue, turquoise and teal, golden reflections of brass and bronze, the haptic and sensual qualities of timber and stone which link to the sea, the setting sun as well as a dark, deep night sky. Each stepping stone, from street level to restaurant, is considered part of a carefully crafted customer journey.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: A restaurant concept focused on the three key ingredients that embody Breeze: inspirational food, exceptional service and bold design. The new restaurant experience develops around the defining architectural moments, which mark a guest’s series of transformations as they discover a cavernous grotto, hidden below the busy streets of Frankfurt’s city center in the basement of the Steigenberger Hotel Frankfurter Hof.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Lebua takes a unique approach to hospitality that aspires to tap into a deeper level of exchange with its guests, one that goes beyond money-for-services to create emotional connections. This occurs when every moment spent with Lebua is uniquely memorable, infinitely personal, and simply exceptional.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in March 2014 in Franfurt, Germany and ended in 2015 for its grand opening.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: Eight Inc. carefully analyzed Breeze at state tower Bangkok to understand what sets this high-end pan-Asian restaurant apart from its competition and identify brand elements that could be carried across to Germany. Rather than focusing on particular formal architectural elements we concentrated on the three key ingredients that embody Breeze: inspirational food, exceptional service and bold design. Identifying the defining architectural moments – sense of drama, wow foctor and abmience — in Bangkok helped us to re-define those same moments in the very different context of Frankfurt.
CHALLENGE: Lebua is expanding its dining concepts to Europe through a strategic partnership with Steigenberger Hotel Group, starting with the 2015 opening of Breeze by Lebua in Frankfurt, Germany, and is exploring hotel management contracts in city and resort destinations worldwide. The challenge of this particular project is to take Breeze’s dining experience atop Lebua at state tower in Bangkok and transfer it to a 19th century Grand Hotel in Frankfurt, Germany, a geographically, culturally, architecturally and gastronomically very different location.
