| DESIGN NAME: Hemera PRIMARY FUNCTION: Residential Apartment INSPIRATION: Our clients want to have a modern home with special features that could show their personal style. Industrial style is a trend growing in popularity, so designer designed a stunning merger of unfinished industrial interior design style complemented by softer and more neutral modern tones. The combination of the hard elements with soft finishes has created a home that exudes an exquisite sense of style. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: In this modern industrial home, designer utilized the key industrial elements of brick wallpaper, cement wall and timber flooring. The modern dining area breaks away from the overall industrial feel of the home creating a stunning contrast and making the industrial elements more outstanding. To soften the hard edges of industrial materials, neutral colour, simple furniture and decor items such as rug and plants used to create a more comfortable and inviting ambiance. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: To have a good balance of industrial style in modern cosy home, designer has simplified the industrial concept. Keeping the key industrial elements of brick wallpaper, cement wall and timber flooring and utilizing neutral colour in furniture and decor items to neutralize the overall design, it also made the industrial elements become more outstanding and eye-catching in the house. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project duration was two and a half months and it is located in Tseung Kwan O in Hong Kong. FITS BEST INTO CATEGORY: Interior Space and Exhibition Design |
PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: To highlight the industrial style, designer has utilized the brick wallpaper in the living room and bedroom to make the whole space feel unified. Due to its eye-catching colour, this key industrial element becomes more outstanding when surrounded by the soft furnishing and simple furniture in neutral colour such as white and light grey. The combination of industrial and modern styles incorporate the subtle feeling of minimalism giving the interior design a modern yet comfort look. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: This apartment has 928 square feet of floor space. TAGS: Industrial style, modern, interior design, Hong Kong, home RESEARCH ABSTRACT: We understand clients want a modern home with special features that could show their own personal style, so we decided to add the industrial elements to the modern home. To make the home comfort while standing out the special features, we further communicated with clients what significant industrial elements to keep and how we utilized the ornaments and colours to retain the overall balance. CHALLENGE: The challenge was how to stand out the industrial style while avoiding it looked too cold for daily life. So designer decided to simplify the concept and keep the key industrial elements of brick wallpaper, cement wall and timber flooring only. To add the warmth to the whole space, designer utilized the rug and plants for decoration while the furniture in dining area and bedroom are in white and light grey.
