| DESIGN NAME: Lips PRIMARY FUNCTION: Restaurant INSPIRATION: The design inspiration comes from the time of Pop Art Movement, by using wall stickers and bold colours, we wanted to create a trendy atmosphere for this restaurant. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: We have used minimal colours of white, black and red because we wanted the boldness of the red to help connote the name of the restaurant. The dining area is a long room furnished with modern style chairs and tables. We have added a mirror wall against one side of the room to create visual space and produce a sense of infinity in the room. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The restaurant has an open bar connecting to the indoor dining area, thus being a great advantage for the flow of visitors’ circulation and better operation planning. To show the connection we have used the same colour palette throughout the restaurant to keep it consistent. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Bricks, Tiles, 3m Stickers, Timber, Metal, Aluminum cladding, Wood, Plastic laminate SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: 105 SQM TAGS: Restaurant, Food and Beverage, Hong Kong, Asia RESEARCH ABSTRACT: We wanted the restaurant to have a spatial experience for the customers by combining ceiling features and full height-mirrors to enhance the space. We have also used bricks to create a void for the 3m stickers to create depth and a 3D effect, making the restaurant eye-catching from the outside. CHALLENGE: One of the challenges was to work with a narrow dining area that had a high ceiling level, therefore we decided to use mirrors to play around with the space. Another challenge was to try and balance the mood and functionality between the outdoor and indoor area as we wanted the open bar area to be the main connection point.
