DESIGN NAME: Golden Harvest Whampoa
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Cinema
INSPIRATION: The idea is to combine an industrial building with a film production studio to bring in both of these characteristics to create a cinematic environment, to make the customers feel as though they are in the middle of a film set. Overall we wanted to repackage what a film studio looks like with an ARTTA Concept Studio twist.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: This project is to make the cinema look like a film production set, therefore we have used white aluminium cladding, black triangle bars combined with spotlights on the ceiling in the lobby and gourmet concierge to create a cinematic atmosphere as the customers walk in. The box office uses a mixture of materials, such as carpets to tile flooring, marble desktops to wood-like ceilings combining it with blue wall wash lights and LED backdrop lights to create an elegant and luxurious environment.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: We have created different designs for each zone, for example in the gourmet concierge we have designed 4 posters to decorate the walls. Each one has different graphics and description of the popular food that the cinema sells – Hotdogs, churros, nachos and popcorn, creating an interesting and informative mural for the room.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: Customers go into the cinema to watch a film, therefore creating a film production set before they walk into the houses makes them feel as though they are a part of the film and create an exciting atmosphere for them.
CHALLENGE: The challenge for this project was working with the different ceiling levels. Therefore we created a film production roof with metal bars in the gourmet concierge, which ultimately became the main feature. This helped make the different height levels look even as the customers walk in from the ticket booth through to the lobby/gourmet concierge.
