| DESIGN NAME: Cappitone PRIMARY FUNCTION: Washbasin INSPIRATION: The idea of Cappitone Washbasin came up with the aim to create a design for bathrooms which is not only functional but also aesthetic. The inspiration of the pattern came from the combination of two seperate ideas. One is the front-view form of Collosseum that takes place in Rome Italy and the other is quilted fabric pattern which can be defined as a pattern that is always fashionable regardless of time. It can be said that both Collossseum and Cappitone are the products of Italian art and Italian artists produced in different ages. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: By its stylish and assertive looking, Cappitone washbasin offers unique bathroom environments for those who seek for previlige. It provides beauty in details with its special pattern and different color options, in which the colors were arised as a result of focus group studies with architectures. Besides, thanks to Sharp&Slim technology, extremely thin edges add value to bathrooms. Cappitone washbasin does not only bring ease of use and maximum functionality with its smooth surface bowl but also makes contributions to hygienic environment with SterilPlus technology that offers antibacterial surfaces. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: - PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in October 2015 and finished in February 2016. It was exhibited in Unicera Istanbul exhibition in February 2016. |
PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Cappitone washbasin is produced with the help of Sharp&Slim technology which can be defined as a technology that pushes the limits of usual ceramic sanitaryware technology. Different from the standard 12 mm thick washbasin edges, Sharp&Slim technology offers extremely thin,5 mm, edges. In addition to that, SterilPlus technology is used which provides easy cleaning surface that enables bacteria prevention an thus long term hygiene. Because of its special pattern, special manuel molding and retouch processes were followed as well as using special bigger molds for the production of freestanding part which are all more difficult processes compared to standard ceramic sanitaryware production. In order to show the pattern more elegant, special glazing technology for metallic colors is used. In order to make the fixation easier, specially prepared fixation set is included. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: 780 mm - Ø 590 mm Different color options: White, Platinum-White, Gold-White, Gold-Taupe, Platinum-Black, White-Black, Gold-Black, Red-Black TAGS: Washbasin, Isvea, Italian design, Sharp&Slim, SterilPlus, Genesis Research&Design RESEARCH ABSTRACT: During the design process, focus group studies with architectures were helpful. It is considered that eye-catching and distinctive designs draw attention. In terms of the verification of final design, prototypes were important. CHALLENGE: Cappitone washbasin is produced with the help of Sharp&Slim technology which can be defined as a technology that pushes the limits of usual ceramic sanitaryware technology. Because of its special pattern, special manuel molding and retouch processes were followed as well as using special bigger molds for the production of freestanding part which is all more difficult processess compared to standard ceramic sanitaryware production. In order to show the pattern more elegant, special glazing technology for metallic colors is used. In addition to these, specially prepared fixation set is included instead of regular silicon application.
