DESIGN NAME: Blue Frontiers Ship
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Hospital Ship
INSPIRATION: The inspiration came from the tragic moment that the world has experienced in recent times.
As I am yacht designer I can't leave to do something that can change that future and this concept ship is what we have of more modern in the sea.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Billion people live in coastal regions and a Hospital Ship is the best way to take heath to needy or catastrophe regions. In these cases wellness, clean water, electricity, medical care is limited or nonexistent. The ship is equipped with hybrid propulsion it can capture energy from its solar panels, wind turbines and generators. The reefers containers positioned on the sides provide quick and easy logistics in the supply of medical supplies and support cars can be used if necessary.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The hospital ship was designed to be used in a fixed place for seasons. These seasons can be a year or half year dependent of the demand.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in October 2015 in São Paulo and finished in March 2016 in São Paulo

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Shipbuilding makes use of prefabricated sections. These pre-fabricated sections are welded in the shipyard forming the ship. The main materials used are steel, aluminum and glass.
SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Hull Length O.A. 180m, Beam 28m, Draft 7.3m, Height 47m.
Decks: 12
Crew Capacity: 500, Patient beds: 160

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: I started the research project reading about architectural medicine, solar/wind power and naval ship concepts
The ship function form was directly linked to the results of research. The challenge of having a large solar capture area at the top of the ship along with wind turbines is unique and challenging, because the wind turbine could not make shadows on solar panels.
CHALLENGE: The challenge was create a ship with the maximum renewable energy capacity to operate in the most difficult areas bringing clean water, electricity, medical care.
