| DESIGN NAME: Bolla PRIMARY FUNCTION: Yacht Design INSPIRATION: The concept was born by drawing a line on the horizon of the sea, this differentiating what is above the surface, air and what is below, the water. From the desire to combine ideally these two worlds, which are symbolized by two elements, air and water, we used a chemical composition through which when water and air come in contact, they create a bubble. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: We designed the yacht for an owner that has two big passions, one from the heart, wine, the other linked to the sea, diving. From the desire to combine ideally these two passions, we imagined an expressionist vision enclosed in a frame, a snap shot of a bubble as it comes afloat in the instant before exploding. A simple and curvaceous line which is the surface of the water and the bubble. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The relationship between in and out is the design line at the base of the bubble, the large central sphere, and the texture that have the functional feature to bring natural light inside. We designed a vegetable garden, a kind of greenhouse where, through the large windows, natural light enters but the heat is filtered by the plants. The large opening to the outside allows the interior environment to merge with the sea as if there was not a real border between what is inside and what is outside PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project began in January 2015 and ended in June 2015 in Milan, Italy. |
PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: A single shell which together create continuity. The bubble on its way towards the light is accompanied by small and irregular air bubbles. The yacht has two contrasting elements a large central sphere, which expresses a moment immobilized and captured as in a frame, and a irregular texture that is opposed to the perfection of the spherical bubble. The texture is repeated and varied in size and rotated, to create the feeling of movement as captured in a photograph. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Yacht length overall 65 m TAGS: yacht, yacht design, concept yacht, concept yacht design, new yacht RESEARCH ABSTRACT: We started the project analyzing the brief and the characteristic of owner. We delved into the details of his personality and of his great passions, doing a great work of analysis and research, and pulling out the main values. From here, the synthesis and the idea of the concept, the bubble, as it comes afloat in the instant before exploding. We began the phase of project, the sketches, the render and the technical drawings CHALLENGE: The life of owner has been characterised by good fortune. He was born in Tuscany into a family that possessed land and cultivated wine. As a child he loved to go snorkeling along the wonders of the Tyrrhenian coast which is characterised by a rocky seabed and clear blue sea. Then with his family open a italian restaurants that immediately had of success, a great fortune but left him no time to pursue his passions. Today a dream, devote himself to diving and to sea thanks to this yacht. They share the passion for design, for yachts, art and beauty.
