DESIGN NAME: To be plugged
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Lamp
INSPIRATION: This project has been created to be a part of a tribute collection to the lazy sunday for a brand new french startup. It has been imagined to be the part of the cozy athmosphere that we like to create on a sunday evening; with a nice book and a cup of tea.
I want it to be a part of that moment; The plug/unplug system is a reference to the capacity we all should have to connect and disconnect from our busy life. Disconnect a bit when you connect "To be plugged" !
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: TBP (To Be Plugged) is a ludic and iconic lamp that can be placed everywhere in the house.
In addition with its new way of lighting up; it has been imagined to give a different way of using lighting at home. Thus, the user can use its imagination, to place it, knot it, or even suspend it on strategic places; to create many possible environments.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: You just have to assemble the both pieces of the lamp to light it, like an AC plug ! Both parts stay plugged thanks to a magnet.
You can tie the cables to anything to create a creative environment; and even multiply the number of lamps in the pieces or to a wall !
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project starded in February 2016 to be the part of the first collection of a brand new french startup named Iconocrafts.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: Since the very beginning, I wanted it to be a part of the "disconnected" moment you can get on lazy sundays; I got inspired by the extension cords that anyone could find at home; It seemed to be a good reference to our capacity of disconnecting from the digital world.
I wanted to draw an iconic, chic, and elegant lamp with a real fonction.
CHALLENGE: To me, the hardest part of the creative process is to find a coherent story; to place the product in the universe that you imagined. That's why I like to find analogies and references to create strong designs with a real message on it.
