| DESIGN NAME: Eclipse PRIMARY FUNCTION: Pendant lamp INSPIRATION: This pendant lamp is inspired by rare phenomenon called Eclipse. An obscuring of the light from one celestial body by the passage of another between it and the observer or between it and its source of illumination and represents different shapes of the moon during this event. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Eclipse can be used both as a pendant lamp and as a sculpture. It's lampshade is made of single piece concrete to bring sense of the moon to the home atmosphere. It is made by a single mold and all the lampshades are the same while to create sense of Eclipse the lampshades are rotated slightly in each level. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Eclipse shows a story when the lamps are located near each other. The real beauty of piece is contrast between the rough texture of the concrete and warm light of the lamp inside the lampshade which create an elegant and friendly atmosphere. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in March 2016 in Tehran and finished in March 2016 in Tehran. FITS BEST INTO CATEGORY: Lighting Products and Fixtures Design |
PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The lampshades are made of concrete and casted carefully and the other parts like holders and lamps are attached by hand. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Width 300 mm x Depth 300 mm x Height 300 mm TAGS: Soroush Vahidian, eclipse, pendant, lamp, moon, concrete lamp RESEARCH ABSTRACT: My research in this project was mainly on designing a ceiling lamp set that shows a motion and make sense when the lamp series located near each other. CHALLENGE: The main challenge was designing the shape of lampshade, It must refer to the Eclipse phenomenon, at the same time not to be so similar to the moon and mention it directly.
