UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Verge32 triple storey semi-detached is a housing development on top of a hill, sitting among lush greenery. The space strived to recreate the experience of a modern tropical resort. The concept is fundamentally tropical, without excessive ornamentation, achieved using neutral color scheme, rich texture and modern timber furniture, that are sumptuously simple. On top of that, the extensive use of natural materials, namely stones, marble, and timber, further resonates the feeling of nature indoor
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Guests are welcomed by a palatial metal art piece that depicts tropical leaf motif. The dining space is veiled in a majestically long rug, whereby a Raintree slab dining table rests above it. The feature wall in organic form with leafy motifs immerses guests in the experience of dining in the woods. The master bedroom is divided into two halves - chamber and study room, separated by full height folding Louvre panels. Unique study shelf creatively displays the natural stone wall at the back.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: Various precedent studies were referred, ranging form local to projects abroad. Different types of timber and varnish were experimented to achieve the resort-look we were after. Naturally, the "tropical" mood to suggest heavy weaving patterns, detailed ornamentation that of Bali. The design was revised from time to time, excess details are reduced each time to finally achieve the "modern tropical" concept.
CHALLENGE: "Tropical" mood is too often associated with south east Asian designs, especially those of Indonesia. These designs always feature sophisticated ornamentation, complicated weavings and excessive use of timber. Our "Modern Tropical" strives to achieve the relaxing ambiance of Tropical mood, minus all the unnecessary details, to make this great concept applicable to a modern home.
