INSPIRATION: Over the last few years the trend of minimalism has been rising and everyday, people are choosing a minimal way of life. Families and individuals have started to reevaluate their purchases. Picture this: a life with less stress, less distraction, more freedom, and more time - all things that people are desperately searching for today more than ever. This lifestyle is about buying less and investing only in premium objects. 5 STYLE is for anyone who wants to become a minimalist and surround themselves with less but yet, higher quality products.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: 5 STYLE opens the door to a global vision of fashion, design and travel through a minimalist point of view. Through our travel guides, 5 STYLE will help our readers explore luxurious destinations with tips for the modern day globetrotter. By promoting new designers, 5 STYLE offers exclusive discounts on products featured on the site. We partner with exciting, new labels that exude the aesthetic of pure minimalism and luxury. We are fortunate to collaborate with contributors who personify the meaning of 5 STYLE.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: 5 STYLE is currently the only website that focuses exclusively on minimal luxury. Not generic luxury, we specifically target premium minimalist products providing 5 STYLE with its own niche. Through the magazine, the travel guides and the exclusive discounts, our readers can discover a luxurious minimalist world. Our goal is to make people reevaluate their purchases and buy less but better quality products by promoting new designers with the same vision.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The Project 5 was started in September 2014 with a clear mission: launching an online lifestyle magazine to promote emerging artists in the design and fashion luxury industries and creating partnerships with them to showcase their products on a new digital platform. 5 STYLE was launched online in November 2014 and it was recently shortlisted in the Herald Digital Business Awards 2015 as one of four finalists in the Student Award category.

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: After designing this minimal website, Alberto formed a team who have helped him discover new emerging artists/designers worldwide to create exclusive content for the magazine. The adopted strategy included a strong use of social media with a beautiful feed of eye catching minimalist photos (either taken by myself or given to me from the brand with whom I collaborate) to drive people to the website and share our online content.
SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: This platform boasts minimalist contributors for the magazine such as Ramon Esteve, founder and director of Ramon Esteve Estudio and professor of hotel design at the School of Architecture in Valencia since 2012. In addition, photographer Nelson Garrido discusses his intricate collection of photography for 5 STYLE. Most recently, the website joined forces with Karen Chekerdjian who will host a guest column every month, talking about her inspirations and installations. We are very proud to have each one of them as contributors.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: As our world continues to grow in complexity, there is far greater personal demand for many of the benefits that minimalism offers. As a result, consumers are choosing to identify the difference between essential and nonessential investments. Many people are choosing to live a minimalist life out of concern for the environment. They understand that less consumption equals less use of the earth's natural resources, and thus, they are choosing to buy less and invest in better quality products.
CHALLENGE: Designing the website was the hardest challenge in creating this digital platform. Customer experience development will continue to build on the creation of good quality and relevant online content to encourage engagement with a greater number of customers and achieve higher conversion of online views to purchase. 5 STYLE intends to heighten customer experience of their services and products by paying meticulous attention to detail, just like the extraordinary products available on the online shop.
