| DESIGN NAME: Arrow Office Table PRIMARY FUNCTION: Office table for chief INSPIRATION: I've always loved something insane in design. This is my student project. I like sharp and dynamic shapes. This project reflects the modernity that makes us all the time to move forward rapidly along with the latest technology. I think the main inspiration was to do something unusual and special. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Office table consist of two dynamic parts fixed to the wall on the one side (the fastening covered by "X-type" plastic panel). On the other side two parts connected between them by metal support and they hanging in the air. Construction is light and strong because main material is carbon fiber. On the surface placed touch pad for notes. There are 3 glass shelves embedded in the plastic panel and plug sockets on the table surface.. All design is fresh, dynamic and light. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: This table can be used as basic table but there are some special features like touch pad: you can do notes straight on your work table, set notifications and check time or date. Plug sockets will help you to charge your phone or notebook and you don't even need move yourself from work space. The lower part of the table creats additional surface and can be used as shelf. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: Work started in june 2015 in Ukraine, Lviv and finished in February 2016 in Ukraine, Lviv. |
PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: There are 3 main materials:plastic, metal and carbon fiber. Frame of table bases made of aluminum. Then all surfaces made of carbon fiber because it is very light and strong material. Two parts is joined to the wall and all fastening covered by decorative X-type plastic panel. Other sides of table is hanging in the air. This two table parts joined between them by 3 metal supports. All chamfers are made of metal. On the surface you can see touch pad for notes. On the plastic panel you can see 3 glass shelves. They are strong enough to carry the weight All construction is quite complicated but it will work. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Width 3500mm x Depth 2150mm x Height 780mm Depth of work surface from 950mm to 1550mm Width of work surface from 2400mm to 2900mm TAGS: Office table, concept, futuristic, student project, young, table, idea, hi-tech RESEARCH ABSTRACT: When you look at something dynamic and unusual it makes you inspired and interested. You trying to understand it and it helps yourself move forward faster and faster. All this movements creates new ideas and ways. And I think it is one of main tasks of design - to inspire people for movements and changes. CHALLENGE: The biggest challenge was in material choosing. I needed light and strong material. All usual materials was to heavy or not tough enough. And then i saw video about new cars and body works technologies. They always uses carbon fiber and and i thought why not to try use this material in my table. And it worked: I have gotten light and strong material. Today it`s common material and not so expencive. It is personal project which is introducing a designer to show his possibilities and ideas. National Forestry University of Ukraine have design department where learning young designers. Young students learn all technical and art aspects of designing. |
