| DESIGN NAME: Little Star PRIMARY FUNCTION: Glass mosaics light object INSPIRATION: Design is inspired by rays of light of star in night sky. I m working on cycle SPACE / Comet. Inspiration is by transformation of space, compare to our mind and consciousness. Source of ideas come from Quantum physics, space, spirituality, astronomy and astrology. "OUR REALITY IS A SEGMENT OF OUR IMAGINATION" Contemporary glass mosaics, oil paintings and water color sketch as document of Metamorphose of Human Race. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Contemporary glass mosaics light object. Light object is made from traditional czech glass. Glass mosaics particles are create from semi product glass sticks in production of decorative and technical glass. Particles are hand cut. Hand made glass mosaics on transparent glass plate is fixed to a iron frame. Behind a mosaics surface is tacked a LED light panel. Under UV light object shine with the yellow uranium glass sticks. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Object is operated by connecting to power. Light object is switch on and of by switch. Object is also sensitive for UV light, by using uranium glass sticks. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in February 2015 in Prague and finished in February 2016 in Prague. This is first public presentation. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Glass mosaics parts are glued to a transparent glass plate by transparent MS polymer glue. Partly is mosaics surface cower by pointing. Mosaics and a LED panel is fixed to iron frame by screw. I want to use a optical properties of leaden, non-leaden and uranium glass stick. I glued hand cut glass mosaics particle to a glass plate. To create part what will show mosaics design I partly cower mosaics surface by pointing. Them I instal a glass stick - rays of star to bring light to the third dimension. Mosaics and a LED panel is fixed to iron frame by screw. By using uranium glass, object is also sensitive to UV light / black light. CHALLENGE: Combine materials to create a visually interesting light object that have esthetic and useful utilization. The idea was to move towards customize design to customer - public or private, where each piece is original. Frame and LED light is industrially made and there is a original part of design that is custom-made. Find the glue with specific properties as transparency, durability, adhesive property and UV immunity to be us for creating transparent mosaic surface, to build up 3D structure. NAME: Zuzana Mantel PROFILE: Designer, mosaics maker and artist. Zuzana Mantel finished study in 1997 in department of design Technical University in Kosice /Slovakia/ as product designer. Six years of study was oriented on product and graphic design, visual communication with excellent teachers and artists as: J. Hascak, Jenik, A. Szentpetery. In year 1999 she migrate to Israel, she live there for several years with family. In the end of year 2005 she come back to Europe. At the present time she live in Prague - Czech Republic. She was part of more than 17 collective exhibitions around the world and she had 13 independent exhibitions in Europe. She had designed: furniture, interiors, mosaics and graphic design. Current time she specialize in mosaics. |
