DESIGN NAME: Faces in History
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Poster
INSPIRATION: The true being of man is his action, said Friedrich Hegel, German philosopher. Great people and their achievements were inspiration to us. People that are able to change the world for the better exist in each corner of our immense world, be it small or big. Each of us, regardless of profession, age, sex or nationality, contributes to the development and to the movement of all humanity is the love of the vocation, the sincerity of intentions and the sense of purpose.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The key element of the design is a portrait that is made from a text typed. This typographic portrait technique is complex and sophisticated. The images of famous people that are familiar to anyone will make the eyes fastened, but when taking a closer look it becomes clear that the whole portrait is represented by the biography typed in the native language of a depicted person. Each poster has its own individuality, but, nevertheless, all of them are designed in the same style.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: We wanted every person to understand that each action, even insignificant at first sight, has a strong hold over the inner world and the human view of life in the whole. An individual is reflected in their actions and deeds. Nature is made up of little things. All people are unique and have boundless opportunities for self-realisation. The cooperation of people around the world offers the opportunity to information, skills and experience to be transferred from one person to another, from nation to nation, from generation to generation.

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The posters were worked out in Adobe Photoshop. A suitable photograph of a person, whose portrait will afterwards be the center of the poster composition, was selected. By copying a text fragment from the biography of a person, in their native language, the text shape of the portrait was created over the photograph. The font was selected to be suitable by style to the portrait and to depict the persons qualities. The posters were printed on matte paper in A1 size. This size offers the opportunity not only to accept the image in the whole, but also to take a closer look at the high level of the posters granularity.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: We wanted to work out 9 posters and 1 video presentation that would bring a deep philosophical and learning meaning. The biographies, the information about achievements and the photographs of famous people from different countries were studied. After extended discussions the portraits for the posters and the video presentation were picked out. The combination of typographics and photografica was selected among numerous graphic styles for the project implementation.
CHALLENGE: Apart from the production complexity the most difficult stage of the project was the moment of picking up 9 people for posters and in video presentation. Among the large number of world worthy people, that made their invaluable contribution to the development of the whole modern society of our planet, it was necessary to choose just 9 people.
