DESIGN NAME: CHARMAS
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Sunglasses
INSPIRATION: The archeological passion, especially of in the Etruscan period and the jewelry of that time, has inspired the creation of this glasses. The granulation art, that got to its maximum fineness between the 8th and the 7th century b.c., with the Etruscan people has been modernized as to create a shape-non shape that celebrates the texture itself. The particular way most of the diamonds get incorporated while embended inside the microspheres gives to it a shining carpet effect such as a “pave”, but with much less gems.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The project consists in a pair of sunglasses in 18Kt white gold and diamonds made unique by the particular texture that recalls the antique granulation art (that had its maximum level with the Etruscan in Italy and it is the symbol of Made in Italy), in a modern context. The structure can be adapted to glasses and sunglasses, reproducing different shapes with different dimensions, all with a unique particular texture.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: These sunglasses give personality and charme to who wears them.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in January 2015. It has been exhibited at MIDO Fair 2015 in Milan in March, with collaboration of OMAS Glasses company for the properties of the glasses (lenses) . It has also been showed in Basilea at Italo Fontana's U-BOAT company. In this moment it is in Isabella's jewelry in Belluno.

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: the basic technique used is the granulation then reproduced through the microfusion. From a wax model has been created the metal one, with a shape adapting to the lenses given. The main material of the structure of the sunglasses is the white gold 18kt, diamonds 4,2 ct and the lenses in polycarbonate. The diamonds has been embedded with the griffe technique and the "night"embedding.
SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: width 15 cm
length 14 cm
heigth 6 cm

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: The research had the target to understand how to set the glasses: optical correction, inclination on the face, the length of the temples, the frontal opening, bridge above the nose. All this through the comparison with the owners of a glasses design studio and of a producing company. For the creation it has been used the own twenty years long experience in the jewels production.
CHALLENGE: The challenge was to project an object, being used to the classic goldsmith production of jewels, having the need of knowledge about optic and about standing weights on the face.
