| DESIGN NAME: Bird PRIMARY FUNCTION: Coffee Table INSPIRATION: Taking off – Landing Two opposite words. One allows you to dream away, while the other brings you back to reality. These two words form the core of the concept while designing the coffee table. Bird is a piece of furniture that generates a “game” between dimensions and balance. It creates the impression that it is floating in the space, even-though materials chosen are heavy in construction, such as marble, metal and wood. Bird is a coffee table which allows the use of both the main surface and the base. It makes a unique combination of modern design and timeless materials. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Taking off – Landing Two opposite words, the prime inspiration to design it. One allows you to dream away, the other brings you back to reality. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Bird consists of marble, wood with - round intersection - metal or stainless steel SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: 1.50cm X 1.45cm X 0.40cm TAGS: - RESEARCH ABSTRACT: my career as an industrial designer has taken me all over the world, exposed me to a myriad of materials and manufacturing techniques and provides constant inspiration to expand the realm of current practices to achieve new and interesting outcomes. CHALLENGE: the greatest challenge was to prototype a piece that requires this level of precision, all the while knowing that the technology exists to do so with ease. but, recognizing the simplicity of manufacturing such a piece, served as the greatest motivation to do so, by hand. NAME: tsigaras design PROFILE: Chris Tsigaras created his own studio in 2012 having as an object the architectural design study, Supervision, as well as the project management in private homes and Business Premises. He owns Bachelor of Arts in Industrial design he is actively involved in the study and the construction of objects and he has been general in the field of Industrial design in Greece since 1990. He has taken parts in international competitions, exhibiting household objects in which he had the study and production as a whole. |
