DESIGN DETAILS
DESIGN NAME:
In Love With the Wind

PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Tourist Attraction

INSPIRATION:
From first glance, the castle is made in the style of the classic Western European castles combining various styles from the Renaissance and Romantic periods, but this comes not to be true. The style of the castle is unique fairy style. This is the secret of its magic impact, the dream that came true to make a castle existing only in fairy tales. The name of the castle in Love With The Wind comes, because of the incredible phenomena of the nature, because wind in the castle comes only when the Sun is shining.

UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
To construct own castle, the same as in the fairy tales was a dream from the childhood. Now the dream comes true, but the end of the construction is so far some when in the future. Most probably the grandsons will finish some day the project. But now days the Castle is the unique place with magic main building, nice lake with swans and a place for fishing, horses for riding, art galleries, winery, chapel, game zone and incredible garden with more than 3000 different flowers and trees.

OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION:
The Castle is an attractive place for one day trip for the families and tourist groups. It offers plenty of attractions as game zone, wine test, art gallery, horse riding and fishing. Many restaurants and outlets in the garden and across the lake offer to the guest to enjoy the traditional Bulgarian food and drinks. The Castle is an excellent place for the wedding ceremonies and family parties. Many international folk and art competitions every year use the magic castle to represent their art.

PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION:
The project started in 1996 near the village of Ravadinovo, when the designer drew in the field the main body of the building, like a Latin cross. The castle is located next to the biggest Black sea tourist resorts to the east-south part of Bulgaria. The nearest international airport and sea port is Burgas.

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY:
It was built completely of 20,000 tons of stone, which was specially extracted from the bowels of the earth in the near mountain. The stone is metamorphosed limestone and it can be found everywhere in the structure from the fence up to the artificial lake, the walls and towers, the chapel and the cellar. According to the Geological Institute of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, these stones are aged about 227 to 247 million of years.

SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES:
The main construction material is marble limestone. More than 20000 tons of stones were used during the construction. The castle is Cross shaped building and most probably the biggest building in the world like a stone cross with the dimensions 75 to 32 meters and 29 meters height. The main shape is like a Latin Cross. The roof is covered with a copper metal with the total weight of 53 tons. The lake is 5 meters deep. More than 3000 different flowers and trees grow in the park.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT:
The main idea was to build a Castle the same as from the fairy tales, but with the real construction materials. No any artificial products. Some of the initial ideas had been changed during the construction process, but the main idea remains. As a result of more than twenty years the Castle became more attractive than any previous expectations and many companies from Hollywood, Russia and India make their movie productions using the natural decors of the castle, lake and garden.

CHALLENGE:
The main obstacle was to change the style of thinking of the people who never believed, that such big project can be started and realized. First six years were collected and transported stones only with 10 workers from the local village and with old truck. Two generations of the families grow and still work in the Castle together with their grandsons. The Castle was build only with own funds and guest's donations. No any bank loans, foreign investments or EU funds.
