DESIGN NAME: Uslon
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Life-saving swimwear
INSPIRATION: Every year thousands people drown in water when they swim! Each of them would remain alive if he wore a life-vest. But nobody bathes in it. A life-vest serves for other purposes – to rescue people when ships are wrecked. It is very bulky and its buoyancy (about 15 kg) is too big. But every person when he swims is dressed in a bathing suit. It can be his saving device! This idea was born after reading Alain Bombard' s book " The Voyage of the Heretique", who is famous for sailing across the Atlantic Ocean in a small boat.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Swimwear with Numerous Air Capsules Guarding against Drowning. It can achieve if to place dozen of rubber tubes on a bathing suit belt. Besides, additional air can be placed in bubbles between two layers of polyethylene. Such swimwear can be designed for children and adults, women and men.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: This is not a special rescue vehicle. A man does not need to look for and put on this rescue vehicle in an emergency. This device does not require time to prepare it into action. It does not need to pump air. The air is at atmospheric pressure and therefore there is no risk of punctures. One does not need any instructions to learn how to use this device.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in May 2015 in Kazan, Russia and is still under further developing.

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The project could be produced within existing materials as well as high-tech special designed material. In the first case, that is depicted on the visualizations, the swimwear produced with polyester fabric for the swimsuit and polyethylene micro-tubes or capsules for the rescue elements. They are tubes, that have multiple joints and form air capsules. Those tubes are sewed in decorative elements of the swimsuits - collars, belts, straps or beads. The next stage of the product realization is designing a new material with special properties that should have porous yet waterproof structure so it could be used instead of foam.
SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Women's size: S, M, L. Models: bandeau bikini, push-up one-piece swimsuit. Men's size: S, M, L, XL. Model: square cut swim trunks.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: The matter is that when the person takes a breath, it becomes unsinkable. The specific weight of his body at this moment is 0.96 – 0.98. But when the person does an exhalation, the specific weight of his body will increase 1.03 – 1.05. If he doesn't make the next breath, he will drown. If the body of the adult receives 2-3 kg of additional buoyancy, he will never drown.
CHALLENGE: There is a deadly threat to human, which for centuries has claimed hundreds of thousands of lives! A man can drown in the water! And now we can offer a technical solution to this problem. We can throw a defiant challenge. It should be added that our project USLON - this is only the first step to solving this problem. ADVANTAGES:
1. This saving device always on a body. It looks as a usual swimwear.
2. Air has smaller density, than other materials (cork, made foam polymers)
3. Air is in tubes and bubbles with an atmospheric pressure.
4. This saving device shouldn't be pumped up.
5. This saving device consists of a lot of separate balloons. Therefore it isn't threatened by punctures.
