DESIGN NAME: Mystica - Night Safari
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Event design
INSPIRATION: The design and installations took its inspiration from tribal motifs and animals. Several nooks were created in the zoo to educate people about environmental issues. The younger audiences could also engage in
treasure hunts.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Working with Singapore Zoo and creating an event and installation design called ‘Mystica’ was a great opportunity for Visual Studio. The event was held in the Night safari section of the Singapore Zoo and hence most concentration was put on playing with lighting and creating a mysterious and tribal atmosphere.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Mystica is an open event held in Singapore Zoo Night Safari. The fixtures were put around the zoo to enhances the experience. The fixture also serve as photo feature to allow tourist to have some memories taken. Performances dress in the theme were also roaming around to hype up the environment furthermore.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in September 2015 and finished in December 2015

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Wood makes the basic material of all the fixture. Mixture of stickers were use to be the base of all fixture to enhance its texture. There is occasional adding of materials like acylics (weather proof), dried leaves to blend in to the natural environment and the theme, cloths or nets and lightings to compliment the ambience.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: The research revolves around the theme 'Mystica' and understanding of the space at the Night Safari Zoo. Taking inspiration from the surrounding, tribal motifs and animals are the main graphic elements of the design.
CHALLENGE: The challenge was to make sure the set up is magnificent enough because the space provided was big. Because of the dark environment, lightings effects have to be taken into consideration. As most of the areas are not under shelter, consideration of materials to be used is also crucial.

NAME: Wildlife Reserve Singapore - Night Safari
PROFILE: Night Safari, the world’s first wildlife park for nocturnal animals was opened in 1994. Over 1,000 animals from 115 species (of which almost 30% are threatened) inhabit the 40-hectare park. In line with its mission to promote biodiversity, the park focuses on the captive breeding of threatened species. Over the years, it has bred Malayan tigers, Asian elephants, fishing cats, red dholes, anoas, markhors, bantengs and Malayan tapirs, among other endangered species. Night Safari, an eight-time winner of the Best Visitor Attraction Experience (awarded by Singapore Tourism Board) attracts more than 1.1 million visitors yearly.
