| DESIGN NAME: Calla Backpack PRIMARY FUNCTION: Bag INSPIRATION: Inspired by nature - perfected by craftsmanship. All GRETCHEN bags are influenced by the beauty of nature and architecture. This design is inspired by the elegantly curved silhouette of a calla blossom. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The specialty about this bag is its versatility. It has three different ways to wear it. As a backpack with the two straps. Carry it on the handle. Attach one of the straps at the side and carry it over your shoulder. Wear it as a backpack when you're riding the bike, carry it in your hand when you arrive or wear it as an elegant bag over your shoulder when you're shopping. Whatever you're up to this bag matches every occasion and outfit. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The bag is not only elegant, it is also practical. It has 3 wearing options and offers a lot of space. It is handy for work as well as leisure time. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The process Duration was one season (6 month). The design studio id located in Berlin, Germany. |
PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The prototypes were sewn in our design Studio, the first models were created in our factory. We tried the perfect length for each strap and the handle. We used different materials and reinforcements for the leather until we decided for the semi stiff calf leather. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Height: 29cm Width: 20cm Depth: 7cm Handlerange: 3cm TAGS: handbag, backpack, shoulderbag, functional, practical, travel RESEARCH ABSTRACT: We wanted to create a unique and super versatile bag. The specialty about this bag is its versatility it has three different ways to wear it: as a backpack with the two straps carry it on the handle attach one of the straps at the side and carry it over your shoulder CHALLENGE: We wanted to create a bag, which is minimalic in style, timeless in design, but special in function.
