RESEARCH ABSTRACT: After a successful crowdfunding campaign and surveying more than 400 participants about their new music habits, we have discovered the importance of what is missing in the age of the all digital.
55% of respondents highlighted the importance of the physical collection and the library as a missing point in the way they experience music. The tactile feel of records and the rituals of playing them came up as another important emotional feature that lacks in our modern habits.
Qleek came up to fill in what we are losing with screen-based music by providing a record-like experience when enjoying playlists or artists without losing the pros of living in the digital era.
CHALLENGE: The main challenge while developing Qleek was to provide users enough room for creativity when creating their Qleek covers, while keeping a cohesive and aesthetically pleasing experience during use and when displaying the product.
The hexagonal shape is an interesting answer to this challenge as it enable modularity while keeping a harmonious connection within the user's Qleeks library.
