DESIGN NAME: elit by Stolichnaya PWS Andean Edition
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Bottle and case
INSPIRATION: This Pristine Water Series Andean edition uses water from the crystal clear waters of Colico Lake in the La Araucania Region of Chile from a natural spring flowing from the foothills of the Andes Mountains. JDO took inspiration from the native woods and the metal textile designs of the local Mapuche tribe who attribute their great health to the pure water in Colico Lake.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The elit pristine water series design captures the unrelenting pursuit of liquid perfection as the vodka maker continues its quest to explore and bring to life the subtle tastes of exemplary vodka beginning with the most pristine of all ingredients water. With only 250 bottles set for global distribution this new highly limited edition spirit is the jewel in the crown of a series of unique vodkas of unprecedented perfection and exclusivity.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The presentation box and bottle come in their own custom made shipping box which is opened by a discreet red tag on the back which opens the magnetic closure. The bottle and presentation box are secured separately inside for carriage. The wooden presentation box is opened by a clasp at the rear of the two halves. Once released these two halves slide apart on a slanted plane which echoes the slant of the bottle design to reveal the bottle itself.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in December 2013 in the UK and finished in October 2014. It was showcased at the TFWA World Exhibition in Cannes, France in October 2014 underlining the importance of global travel retail to this most unique of vodkas. A brand film also created by JDO premiered in Cannes to support the launch of the final series. The product was available in global travel retail and high end retailers from December 2014.

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: This highly limited edition vodka comes in a hand cut crystal bottle designed to refract light and enhance the liquid clarity. Every exquisite bottle is sealed with a silver medallion overlaid with gold and crowned with a ruby depicting the elit by Stolichnaya flame. The bottle is then nestled in a sustainable Chilean Black Cherry wood case that is lined with leather. Only 250 numbered bottles were released for global distribution and retail at 3000 Euros per bottle.

CHALLENGE: The final elit Pristine Water Series needed to be the ultimate expression of the elit by Stolichnaya brand. The challenge was to capture this perfectly with a beautiful and impactful design. It is not often that you get the opportunity to work on such a prestigious brief and with such beautiful materials. We wanted to feel that we had truly told the story of this Andean edition elit Pristine Water Series and produced a luxury pack that justified its premium price positioning.
