| DESIGN NAME: public seats PRIMARY FUNCTION: Concrete Colorful INSPIRATION: Recovery of architectural waste is the big problem of environment protection. Waste architectural waste generally adopts the handling method of burying and piling, especially in developing countries. Designing and manufacturing public facilities whose materials are regenerative concrete can not only save the transportation expense of aggregate, but also save the land expenses occupied by architectural waste. The colorful concrete can enrich the demonstrativeness of concrete furniture. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: This works takes the concrete waste as the aggregate of precast concrete to make concrete outdoor facilities,which enables new urban furniture to have ecological features.It borrows the tenon-mortise structure from traditional Chinese architecture to embody its connection with the traditional culture.It is convenient in making and various in combination mode; it is also characteristic of traditional Chinese construction element and is suitable for display of modern architectural. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Regard waste concrete as the aggregate of prefabricated concrete and make concrete outdoor facilities. Add dyeing materials to make concrete materials more demonstrative. Through revolving and displaying, it can be arranged into different combination modes so as to suit different environments. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: It takes us 4 months. The renewable concrete colorful public chair of tenon-mortise shape is in the art gallery of Southwest Jiaotong University now. |
PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Shatter the architecture waste of concrete and prefabricate it into aggregate. Then proportion it to raw materials. Add colorful dyeing agent of certain proportion in concrete and stir it evenly by mixer, which improves the demonstrativeness of concrete furniture. Make mould and make concrete public facilities. TAGS: Renewable concrete, colorful chair, tenon-mortise, public, architectural waste RESEARCH ABSTRACT: With the increasingly quickening of urbanization process, the demand of concrete, the main material foundation of urbanization, also increases rapidly, especially in developing countries. On the other hand, recovery of architectural waste is the big problem of environment protection.Waste architectural waste generally adopts the handling method of burying and piling, which leads to great burden of the environment. Public furniture of regenerative concrete expands the application scope of regenerative concrete. CHALLENGE: The two difficult points lie in both the composition proportion of regenerative concrete and the color control of colorful pigment in concrete. We have attempted many types and failed for many times. Finally we found appropriate proportion and mastered colour matching techniques. NAME: Product Design Research and Development center of SWJTU PROFILE: Southwest Jiao Tong University product design R&D center belongs to the Southwest Jiao Tong University Department.The R&D center has many design patents and it also provides design services for various companies such as SHU DU buses company. Southwest Jiao Tong University research aims to find many new energy systems and try to use it to design many new high technology products. Professor Huang Tao, our team's tutor, is a member of the German Industrial Design Association and of the American Association of Industrial Design. His team got numerous awards such as the Red Dot Design Award( red-dot Supreme Award) , the IF Concept Design Award in Germany , the IDEA Industrial Design Award and lite-on Award to name a few. |
