DESIGN NAME: Vertik
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Office desk
INSPIRATION: It arises from the will to ally an unbroken geometric combination to an object, the office desk. The shape comes from the base of the desk drawer and evolves forming the top and ending in the leg. To this is added the ergonomic component that can never be overlooked in a workspace that is both distinctive and elitist but at the same time comfortable and cozy.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: A contemporary design combined with detailed ergonomics. By multiplying triangular shapes has created a harmonious and dynamic silhouette that is the main characteristic of Vertik. With wood veneer and also lacquered, it fits perfectly in an executive workspace.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The final shape is thought to be centered on the user, the drawer unit has a rounded shape in order to further their use. The materials used in its construction ranging from the lacquer to the hardwoods, a combination that proves to be perfect and quite attractive, appealing us to contemplate and unravel its forms by touch.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project began in 2014 in Felgueiras and was completed in 2015.

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Built with MDF sheets, each sheet has a unique design that is cuted in CNC. The plates are then fixed with glue and screws until we get the final form. Its completion goes through the lacquering process and / or coated with hardwoods.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: The research stemmed from many years of frustration and a strong desire for breaking with the traditional final forms of these products and the various manufacturing barriers. After some investigation (carried out using the internet, magazines, publications ...) it’s easy to realize that the forms do not differ too much because change them would involve very complex and costly manufacturing processes.
The aim in this case was to combine traditional joinery methods with the available technology without increasing costs and thus break with the common definitions and assign to Vertik an avant-garde and distinctive look.
CHALLENGE: The challenge is to achieve a perfect set of geometric shapes combining comfort and design. Emphasize the use and combination, in miter, of MDF boards ensuring that all vertices are carefully preserved and highlighted. All previously described points converge into an ultimate goal: making Vertik an object of desire.
