DESIGN NAME: #infinitecreativity
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Unisex Clothing
INSPIRATION: Making menswear is so tricky, because usually men like to wear something that is simple. When it comes to fashion design, playing with pattern is more fun instead of prints. The struggle when it comes to menswear, is the collection has to be in the middle of ready-to-wear and couture/costume to be wearable and sellable.
This is the point of #infinitecreativity collection, to change men point of view of menswear. Simple is not enough. Men can wear something that stands out, just like women.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: This collection is inspired by Abstract Black & White and Shedding Snake. What is unique about this collection is the shedding detail, by applying couture technique on the design. The shedding detail is to make people look more manly and the colour black and white is to make the garment look more exclusive and more expensive.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Abstract is the idea of this collection. Making weird pattern is a good way to describe the abstract itself. The statement of menswear is all about simplicity. Make the design 100% opposite the statement made it stands out. Something that stands out is better than something that's simple or normal. Something that's odd or something that's different equals some recognition. It will be recognised, respected, and accepted. Just like fashion. Something that's simple or normal is not fashion. Fashion is a invention of brilliancy, something that is new. Fashion is expensive, because it's exclusively designed by people called fashion designer. Fashion designer is gifted, they have the ability to design something that is different, something that's not accepted just yet, something new. Dare to be different. This #infinitecreativity collection is already planned from the beginning. The target market is someone who dare to be different, and they will make a changes. To change people point of view of their fashion.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in July 2015 and finished in September 2015. Brought 1 look for "VISION" fashion show at Senayan National Golf Club Jakarta on September 14th 2015. Brought 4 look for "TRANSPIRE" fashion show and exhibited 1 look at Fairmont Hotel Jakarta on September 21st 2015.

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: This collection was made by 5 kinds of fabric, such as Semi-Wool for the outer, Cotton for the shirt, Lining fabric, and Leather and Prada Lace for the detail. The main point for this collection is the Leather detail, by stitching the seam allowances outside to create the Shedding Snake effect.
When it comes to the photoshoot, the model's look must support the garment itself, by applying dark eye shadow, dark eyeliner, and dark lipstick. As for the hairdo, messy hair is always a good idea when the concept itself is messy.
SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: The size itself is European men size, because this collection was made for a fashion show. The vest is slightly smaller than a normal vest, because we want to do the photoshoot with female model instead of male model. So people thought that women also can buy the product, not just men, although the idea is for menswear.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: The point of this collection is to change men point of view of menswear. It doesn't have to be simple. Men can wear something that stands out. Playing with pattern instead of prints. Shedding snake detail by applying couture technique on menswear, make people who wore them look manly and the colour black and white make the garment look exclusive and expensive.
CHALLENGE: The challenge is when it comes to the stitching part. Using lace on top of other fabric is a good combination. It's a good idea, yet a bad idea. A person who has a bad stitching skill should avoid this thing or ask a tailor to do it. The concept of this collection is abstract, yet messy. People won't notice the bad stitching when they see the garment on the catwalk, because the concept itself is messy. But if the concept is clean, people will notice it right away. Not all of them will notice, but a fashion designer will.
