DESIGN NAME: SIMPLE LIFE
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Residential Interior
INSPIRATION: Denoting the space with simplicity, I hope to utilize the least to present the most functions. By tearing down the decorative and pretentious interior designs, I utilize the primitive features of cement, wide wooden boards, stones and other materials to present the temperature of a house with the “essence” of these materials.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: By taking away redundant interior designs in this space, I achieved the goal of “adding by subtracting” and considered the tonality of each space from lifestyle perspectives. For the conversion between the sitting rooms and bedrooms, public and personal spaces, the features of the owner themselves are the key elements to allow this flourishing space to create a comprehensive story by being individually independent and closely connected at the same time.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Removing excess decoration, and reduce the cold feeling of space through light and shadows to create a space that people could feel warm and comfortable.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in March 2014 in Taoyuan and finished in November 2014 in Taoyuan

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: With specially selected natural materials, I find more possibilities among these materials in their original state. Just like the natural advantage of the original taste of food ingredients, the space is free from hackneyed styles when fashionable materials’ sense of time cannot be observed.

CHALLENGE: The biggest challenge is that members of this space has 2-year-olds, 40-year-old and 80-year-old elderly adults.
The first important is to simplify, taking into account the safety features,
so the family can be easy to use the accessible environment.
