Posterrific Adventure of Anna Warrick Typographic Illustrated Story Book by Rianti Hidayat |

DESIGN DETAILS |
DESIGN NAME: Posterrific Adventure of Anna Warrick
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Typographic Illustrated Story Book
INSPIRATION: This book was made for a simple reason; I love to create illustrations, concept art and (obviously) typography. The additional text in each of the illustrations helps to make for a wonderful poster that can be used for virtually anything at all! The idea that drove this was a simple one; ‘what if EVERY page in a book could be a poster?’ – that’s the basic concept underlying the ‘Posterrific Adventure of Anna Warrick’, originally intended purely as an experiment.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: This is an experimental storybook about Anna Warrick’s adventure inside the World of Posters. The script and story on each page are integrated into illustrations that are actually poster worlds. In the story, Anna jumps from poster to poster, visiting the worlds of movies, travel, fashion and others until she finds the one poster where she belongs. The reader is challenged to read the script within the illustration while enjoying the story. This self-published English-Japanese bilingual book consists of 16 different posters and will be launched in Fall 2015 (Northern Hemisphere).
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: -
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The idea was formed in 2014 and the actual creation process started from beginning of 2015 to July 2015 in Japan. The book itself was printed in Bandung, Indonesia.
FITS BEST INTO CATEGORY: Graphics, Illustration and Visual Communication Design

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: -
SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Standard ISO A5 Paper for the content: 148mm x 210mm
TAGS: typography, story book, poster, illustration, anna, posterrific adventure, children book
RESEARCH ABSTRACT: The research behind this book was started first by looking through references (particularly posters) encompassing a variety of visual styles and themes. As an example, a classic movie poster (as shown in the first illustration) usually has a monochrome color and the subjects centrally positioned. The font used within these posters also tends to be distorted in a diagonally direction or through depth/perspective to add movement and create a grand or heroic atmosphere.
CHALLENGE: This particular concept does not allow for last minute revision as the fonts are integrated to the drawing. Changing the script or grammatical error means that the entire layout needs to be changed.

Rianti is a concept artist; illustrator; graphic designer; and currently working full time at COLOPL Inc. Japan, a video-game company. She started her career from Indonesia, adding some more experience by working at a Ubisoft Singapore, and a post-graduate scholarship brings her to Tokyo; where she’s living now. As for now, Rianti had her art influenced by a lot of different visual styles from different cultures.
Rianti’s latest award comes from the Behance Appreciation Award in Japan by December 2014. It’s not her first; in fact, she’s been winning multiple awards or nominated at various competition since her young age at the college.
She likes to optimize her drawing to tell unique story and bring surprises. Have you ever heard about a space circus troupe? Or can you imagine a robot based-alarm clock that will slap you up from your sleep? Or lay your hand at a portfolio that looks like a toy packaging?
Aside from creating wacky world in her head, she actively involved in community held the same amount of importance as well as working on the big industry itself. This motivated her to keep serving on SIGGRAPH Asia Student Volunteer Subcommittee; in charge of design related planning and have been an active participant in the SIGGRAPH Asia Conference since 2008. This provides a wonderful way to share ideas to the world, receive critique, interact with other artists and be made aware of the latest industry trends.
She also a fan of J.C Leyendecker`s brush strokes.
