DESIGN NAME: Ming Yu Tang & Tea House
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Tea House
INSPIRATION: Inspired by the Chinese culture , the designer takes advantage of the traditional elements, especially the word, ZEN. Zen means simple and peace, so the whole space was not decorated too much, and created to be a pure land
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The tea house uses Chinese traditional elements, which combines the raw material, and demonstrates the Chinese culture more deeply.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Designers cover its uneven defect by artistic ceiling and make it look as part of the whole wood finishes. To create the typical Chinese living space, mahogany, blue and white porcelain, teapot and some wood crafts are used and show the beauty of the Orient. Chandeliers with modern Chinese decorative patterns interact with warm spotlights and the small lights hidden in closet illuminates the China.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in April 2014 in Shenzhen, China and finished in August 2014.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: The tea house is located in Nanshan district, Shenzhen, and there is high-end car wash downstairs. The surroundings are new developed commercial area as well a metro station nearby. The designer checks the condtion on-site and reserch the sales price of properties nearby, finally the tea house was set for the hign end place where the busy people can fine the peace in heart.
CHALLENGE: The hardest part to use the limited budget to create more valuable design. The designer just uses the simplest but most resresentative elements to build a typical Chinese living space.
