INSPIRATION: Inspired by Zen culture, which emphasizes rigorous meditation-practice and personal expression of this insight in daily life, the design tends to provide people such kind of choice through its environmental-friendly products. People can choose what they like, lead a life they want. It’s not only a choice; it is also an altitude towards life.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Mr Wo, 吾人吾物, pronounced as ‘wu ren wu wu’, is a Chinese style variety store. It focuses on environment-friendly, simple, high-quality items. Mr Woo has a double meaning: The first intention is a pledge for self-realization, reflected in Zen 禪 (pinyin: Chán), which can be approximately translated as ‘absorption’ or ‘meditative state’.
Another aspect is a general attitude toward life, as in ‘making (the right) choices’. In this spirit, one chooses what he or she likes. Mr Woo gives people the impression of realizing one’s self, with confidence, educated, cultured and humorous. Consequently, we made Mr Woo into a mascot: A humorous, confident and brilliant person with wit. Mr Woo reminds people of seal cutting - a traditional form of art that originated in China - expressing Chinese aesthetics perfectly. Mr Woo is a seal-like monochrome mascot, convenient to use and easily recognizable.

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The most common materials in daily life were used, such as, cotton cloth, craft paper, handmade paper, which are full of strong smack of everyday life and nostalgic atmosphere. In technology monochrome printing was used.
