| DESIGN NAME: Refining Harmony in a Cozy Space PRIMARY FUNCTION: Private Residence INSPIRATION: Enhancing the quality of life is the main core of luxury. To make users feel the sense of belonging, we planned the flowing of the light, the flavor and the temperature by the delicate textures. The life will be leisurely and carefree when heart belonging to somewhere. Home is the origin and the end of what we chase after in our life and always waiting us constantly. Thus, going home should be so comfortable and easy. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: In Buddhist ideas, the universe has it’s own balance and tolerance. Following the thought, we try to review the scale and arrange the space by spreading the house out. With an open mind too see the floating breath of the environment goes and then remove the imagination of the doorways, make the spaces connect together. The wood material is the most largest scope of the indoor space, it makes the expressions of the room plentiful. Especially collocati OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Buddhism believes that the universe is balanced and all-inclusive. Since the home owner’s philosophy is the same, we incorporated this belief into our design by removing all the doorways and combine all the spaces into one. This is particularly shown in connecting the eldest son’s room with that of the mother, which represents the everlasting bond between parent and child. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in April 2014 in Taoyuan Taiwan and finished in May 2015. FITS BEST INTO CATEGORY: Interior Space and Exhibition Design |
PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Distinct color palettes and the use of vertical and horizontal lines are attention grabbing. Furthermore, the dark South American chicken-wing wood, the texture of the Thai silk, and the Teakwood floors lined with titanium crochets portray a quiet and graceful attitude. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: 200 m2 TAGS: private, residence, Buddhism, home RESEARCH ABSTRACT: Expensive materials are superficial without the proper design. The smell, interactions with light and temperature, and the feel of delicate textures are all incorporated into designs to make the users of a space feel comfortable and wealthy in their hearts and in their life. It is deeply believed that the concept of home is both the origin and the endpoint of life’s pursuit. That constant waiting to go home is how a comfortable space will make you feel. CHALLENGE: The essence of a private space is often determined by its users. Meanwhile, the role of the design is to interpret style to coincide with the exact pattern of daily life through the use of different materials. For example, the owner of the Taoyuan Chiang Home has an orderly yet distinctive personality. As a devote Buddhist, he is generous, open-minded and self-restrained.
