PRIMARY FUNCTION: Whole Body Phototherapy
INSPIRATION: Whole body PUVA chamber design has not been improved much with reference to efficiency, usability and maintainability to cure Psoriasis, Vitiligo, Lichen planus etc., Need to have HMI based smart control system which can guide about dosage and also record the patient's data. Triangular shape helps in reducing manufacturing cost and improving over all usability and space requirements. Patient safety and comfort need to be improved. Cost of the newly designed machine should generate the value in form of usability and empathic design.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Triangular aesthetic curve shape that gives homogeneous irradiation and shorter treatment time and it also saves manufacturing cost and space. HMI microprocessor based control unit with in built programs for different dosage and guide. Patient dosage history recorder. Irradiation time monitoring and control by inbuilt Dosimeter. High quality mirror type reflector to ensure maximum irradiation. UVA and NBUVA therapy can be provided with different combination. Easy to maintain and transport.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Generally 2 to 3 PUVA treatments per week for up to 23 weeks are considered medically necessary for psoriasis. As per dosage time patient stand in the cabinet having 6 foot long 27 different UVA/NBUVB tubes. Patient dressed only in underpants for whole body exposure. Sometimes just arms and legs may be exposed to the radiation. Integrated Dosimeter calculate irradiation time. Treatment is monitored and controlled by HMI microprocessor based controller. Fan on top for ventilation.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: 12 Months from concept to final product. Location: Designed in Rajkot and Manufactured in Ahmedabad, India.

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Laser cutting, CNC Sheet metal forming process and standard fabrication process required. Main body of is made of MS sheet with MS L-section. Large radius banding of sheet metal to make triangular shape possible. HMI microprocessor based control system. Smart electronic integration and logical automation help to monitor and control dosage. UVA and NBUVB tubes as per medical standard. Mirror type reflectors ensure max irradiation. Modular design with fully insulated circuit base.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: With triangular radius shape provides homogeneous irradiation due to its special structure results in shorter treatment time.
