| DESIGN NAME: EHEDESIGN PRIMARY FUNCTION: Work Space INSPIRATION: The space interpretation and timber frame which experienced hundreds of years are wonderful. We respect the original space, material, historical style and features. Controlling the use of design, protect cultural relics but to reach an accurate design realm. The full space character shows white, green and gray colored BOLON vinyl tile combined with hundreds of years old wooden structure. Necessar UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: It is transformed from one of the silk reeling workshop of Grand Canal of China Tongyigong Cotton Mill. The designer kept the original structure of cultural relics, renovated the internal pattern, not only retained the natural historical sense, but also integrated modern fashion elements. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Main Materials: emulsion paint, coating，BOLON vinyl tile SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Net Area：1565m2 TAGS: New life of old buildings RESEARCH ABSTRACT: Tongyigong Cotton Mill was built in Guangxu twenty-second year (1896) in Qing dynasty. It is the only industrial building heritage left in Hangzhou, China and has experienced hundreds of years of vicissitudes. It is a national key cultural relic’s protection construction. Zhejiang Garden Cultural Relics Bureau has very detailed and strict decorate regulations for such kind of historical structures. As an office space, there are aspects of functional requirements, and this made design more a like "dancing in chain", we must find balance between design functions, cultural relic protection and traditional architecture resection.
