| DESIGN NAME: Space PRIMARY FUNCTION: Necklaces and bracelets INSPIRATION: A dream I made few days ago when I received bad news for some jewelry projects. So, to forget it, I dreamed to create a wonderfull jewel only for my pleasure, something never seen, something exceptionnal and at the same time wearable. Moreover it had to be cheap to produce. These jewels are made from brass wire found in DIY shop, which cost only 2.5 euro. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Necklaces and bracelets made only from one folded wire. These objects are 3D sculpture offering spatial jewels when worn and decoratives objects when simply leave on a table. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: It is as well a sculpture to be let on a table than a jewel to be weared. Thanks to its light weight and its equilibrated design, when worn these jewels are not feeled by the person. At the same time, they takes a great place in the space and are strongly visible. These jewels are extravagant and however they are made with a wire costing only 2.5 euro. These objects combine characteristics which usually are incompatible. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: Started in April 2015 in Brussels and finished in Brussels in Mei 2015 (such a project is never finished) |
PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Folded brass or silver wire. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Need to be made, as for clothes, at the right size and morphology of the person who will wear it. So it prevent any industrial production. It will stay a handicraft production. Moreover, the packaging can not be the usual packaging size used in jewelry, it has to be bigger. TAGS: Jewelry, necklace , bracelet , sculpture , spatial RESEARCH ABSTRACT: 1) Research as a sculptor , 2) Objective : create for my pleasure a new jewel I should like to wear. I dreamed it as a spatial jewel , 3) Methodology : creating necklaces and bracelets folding the wire, creating nice curves 4) No special tool used, only my hands and my brain. CHALLENGE: I had no obstacles for the design, it was fast and instictive. As for all my other designs, the most difficult challenge for me is the marketing. NAME: Anne Dumont PROFILE: Anne Dumont is born in 1966 in Brussels/Belgium. She studied engineering and worked in IT and management during 20 years. Doing no research in her job as engineer, and having a passion for jewelry, she decide to start research in jewelry. She is auto-didacte and find that it is what help her to do innovations in jewelry. She has dreams and having no usual knowledge in jewelry to do it, she has to imagine and create her own solutions. It's why her creations are so unusual, the combination of a jewelry passion and a engineer free to create concepts and designs based only on her own logic. |
