| DESIGN NAME: Cypris Collection PRIMARY FUNCTION: Bracelets INSPIRATION: The untamable personality and the unpredictable nature of the sea - with its motions, forms, and reflections - instigated us to explore the duality between the permanent and the ethereal. Like the sea, the Cypris bracelets are always in movement, creating unique and transitory compositions, due to their random curves, their different finishes and the hypnotizing beauty of the black pearl. Despite the wearers efforts to compose a set of bracelets, the constant movement, and the indefinable curves create an antagonistic relationship between the power of choice and the result of randomness - unpredictability leads to a total lack of control over the final arrangement. Thereby, the wearer becomes a mere spectator of this constant mutation - as a boat drifting along the waves. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The versatility of Cypris bracelet collection allows the user to create endless compositions by combining the existing models and their random and unpredictable curves. Wearing all the bracelets together or in sets of at least two pieces, the user can obtain different results according to each elected bracelet. The undulating surfaces reveal reflections in many levels of brightness and depth: there is the purest reflection of the polished areas that mirrors and distorts the surrounding environment while the satin finish acts more tenuously by capturing only the luminosity and spreading it gently through the piece. The black surface, in turn, absorbs all the surroundings and reflects only the spotlights, creating an interesting contrast when combined with the other pieces. Finally, the black pearl, with all its mystery, seems to float between the bracelets, taking to itself a more protagonist role. Thus, Cypris is a collection suitable for both casual and even more special occasions, making use of the various models and finishes to create sophisticated compositions. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: N/A PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in January 2015 in São Paulo, Brasil. It took around 3 weeks from the first roughs to the final pieces. |
PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Handmade 18k white gold or 950 silver. White and black rhodium plating. Black South Sea Pearl applied in one of the models. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: 20g / Dimensions: Width 80mm x Depth 10mm x Height 75mm. The gold editions are delivered in the typical B&M handmade wooden box.
