| DESIGN NAME: Nemesis Fins PRIMARY FUNCTION: Swim fins INSPIRATION: Utilizing bio-mimicry, the Humpbback Whale pectoral fin was part inspiration behind this unique design. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The Nemesis Fin will become your greatest ally in the pool. The most comfortable fin on the market, with ergonomic foot pocket features and floating properties, which elevate the hips and feet into an improved streamline body positions. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: We wanted a lightweight fin to elevate the hips and legs and help improve body positioning for the swimmer (the better horizontal position, the faster the swimmer!!). The EVA foam material needed to be soft enough to offer a comfortable fit but rigid enough to generate power and propulsion. Ultimately, due to material choice, this fin was not ideal for our elite performance swimmer, who wants both comfort and performance, but not at the highest level of the elite swimmer. The foam material provides the perfect blend of soft comfort and rigidity to meet the fitness swimmer's strength requirements and give them a great workout. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: Development completed October 2013. Product on shelf August 2014. |
PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: PLUSFoam® 100% recyclable foam. PLUSFoam® is a performance-based, 100% recyclable material. it is crafted using various combinations of reclaimed post-consumer material, post-manufacturing scrap and virgin material. Unlike traditional EVA, PLUS compounds are closed-cell, which means they are inherently non-microbial and nonabsorbent. PLUSfoam® out performs EVA in a variety of categories - namely rebound, compression and elongation. PLUS compounds also tend to have better traction in wet and dry conditions than the materials they were designed to replace. PLUSfoam® uses less energy to process, is virtually landfill neutral and is endlessly recyclable.
