| DESIGN NAME: Vary PRIMARY FUNCTION: Light Object INSPIRATION: Spaces we inhabit are shaped by various influences. In architecture, design is defined by location, surrounds, structural analysis and regulations. But then again, when it comes to design, objects often just stand alone, not in direct conversation with their surroundings. Questions. What happens in between? What happens to the space which emerges unintentionally or unconsciously? Does it communicate or act with its environment? Can I, as a designer, create tasks for these interspaces? UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The fear of change often lies in our high expectations and a specific goal.We forget that the path and associated development need time.I use geometric shapes which use the metamorphosis from angular to round to symbolise transformation.Inter OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: On pictures it appears as if there are different luminaires but in fact it is just a single one. By moving around the luminaire it changes its apperance. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in April 2014 and finished in August 2014 in Hildesheim. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The luminaire is handmade by a glassblower. It connects the traditional craftsmanship and the minimalist luminaires of modern times. It is only one line that forms two 3-dimensional objects. It's powered by a high voltage neon source. The same advertisement light uses. The colour temperature is 4000 kelvin. The connection between the cables and the glastube is a satined standard aluminium tube. The high voltage power supply is integrated in the floor unit. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: 320 mm x 320 mm x 800 mm handblown flouresent lighttube highvoltage neon source TAGS: lightobject, forms, changing, lamp, minimalist, VARY, connection, space, lighttube, flouresent RESEARCH ABSTRACT: These research was dedicated to the space between. I examined things like houses, streets and furniture and why it was built the way it was.What was in between two objects and how they interacted?Are there unintentional spaces? My observation showed that there are no unintentional spaces. It only depends on your experiences and point of view. The purest definition of interspace is light. It fills the space between and you can only recognise it when it strikes an object. CHALLENGE: What happens to the space which emerges unintentionally or unconsciously? Does it communicate or interact with its environment?Can I, as a designer, create tasks for these interspaces?I tried to find connections between architecture, art and perception.Who defined those spaces? And why are they defined?In my opinion its the point of view as well as our experiences that forms our perception.
